The sheer effortlessness of Fikirte Addis’ textured earth-toned pieces grabbed the attention of many eyes in the room. It showcased the bare foundation of Africa in its truth and in its minimalistic state.

Just across stood displays of Tegaa Accessories in all of their vibrancy; an often popular extension of African fashion. Tie dyed leather clutches and cowries in pearly whites played upon the scenery with various splashes of strength & color. Customers, left and right, were grasping at the elegant cowrie chokers that were soon sold out before the end of the night.

Shangani Fashions’ table and racks were not only filled with vibrant patterns, but numerous designs that many have recognized as uniquely African. Laughter and twirls were abundant, while guests tried on dresses that billowed and blazers that cinches the waist mirroring the spirit of the fashion displayed. A customer, ecstatically exclaimed, “I love my new blazer. Oh my gosh.”

Sarephtha Rose’s accessories took us back to the luxuriously cool and chic serenity of Africa. A collaboration between Guinean and Liberian artisans resulted in craftsmanship like no other with nude toned bags that featured traditional weaving techniques, tanning, and embroidery.

The serene accessories of Sareptha Rose were a perfect pair for Shangani Fashions’ outspoken prints in classic silhouettes. The scale and grace of Africa was evident through the collection and was quite an attraction to many viewers. A beloved customer grasped at the opportunity to purchase a wallet.

Behind the scenes at fashion week PRIMP Agency created fresh looks as the official beauty sponsors of the platform. Creative Director Nyorh Agwe led the models, backstage team, and volunteers to ensure proper setup, makeup and hair throughout the evening, featuring designs soon-to-be featured on the e-commerce platform Adiree.com.

Our platforms aim to educate, empower, and connect inspirational brands and individuals interested in breaking down barriers and creating structure around industries for business. Our premier launch of Africa Fashion Week (AFW) in New York, attracted more than 1,500 industry insiders. The event also secured the support and an official proclamation from New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who emphasized the event would promote tourism to New York with 70% of designers coming directly from Africa; thereby further fostering a relationship between the U.S. and Africa.
